About Canoe Cove Marina

One of the largest full-service marinas on southern Vancouver Island, Canoe Cove combines protected moorage with a working boatyard offering haul-out, mechanical, fibreglass, paint, and rigging services. Located just south of the Swartz Bay ferry terminal, it's a common jumping-off point for the Gulf Islands.

Marina overview

Canoe Cove Marina is a long-established marina and boatyard community on the north end of the Saanich Peninsula, just south of the Swartz Bay ferry terminal. It has been part of the Vancouver Island boating scene for decades. Boaters often use it as a base for cruising the Southern Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands.

The site combines moorage with a working boatyard and independent marine trades. That is why many local sailors and power boaters link Canoe Cove with haul-out, refit, and repair work as well as seasonal moorage.

Location and boating area

Canoe Cove opens onto Satellite Channel and the northern approaches to the Gulf Islands. From here it is a short run to Portland Island, Prevost Island, Sidney Spit, Saltspring, and the wider Southern Gulf Islands cruising ground.

The outer approach is exposed to ferry wake and tidal current. It also shares waters with BC Ferries traffic to and from Swartz Bay. Check current tides and currents, the ferry schedule, and Notices to Mariners before you depart. Our live marine weather and boating safety pages are a useful starting point.
